SRU Tailgating Policy
Report all emergencies, including request for medical assistance to the Slippery Rock University Police Department at 724.738.3333.
All parties in attendance are expected to maintain a responsible atmosphere and conduct themselves in a courteous manner and respect the rights of others and the University community.
Alcohol is considered a beverage that may be brought onto campus in the approved area(s) by individuals of legal age for a tailgating event
Slippery Rock University does not sanction the possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages. SRU further sets forth the policy, in accordance with applicable federal, state and local legislation, that no person under the age of twenty-one (21) may possess or consume alcoholic beverages at SRU. Violators will be cited under the Pennsylvania Crimes Code, Section 6308. Supplying alcohol to a minor is a misdemeanor and violators will be subject to arrest. All Pennsylvania Liquor Control Laws apply to tailgating activities.
Car stereos or portable radios may be used but must not be operated excessively loud or disrupt the tailgating activities. No amplified sound systems are permitted.
Tailgating activities are limited to the following area: Reserved parking area immediately below N. Kerr Thompson Stadium, and extends to the Residence Hall Building F parking area. Tailgating activities are also permitted in the grass area behind the Critchfield Baseball Park.
Vehicles must park in designated spaces and may only use one parking space per vehicle. Parking across spaces is not permitted. Cost of parking in the tailgating area is set at five dollars ($5.00) per space. All vehicles will be given two trash bags to assist in clean up.
Time periods for tailgating activities are established as follows:
No permanent structures may be constructed or placed for tailgating activities.
The preparation and consumption of food during tailgating events is limited to personal use. No food may be sold at tailgating activities.
Food preparation is limited to the use of propane gas grills. No charcoal grills are permitted. Propane gas grills must be a minimum of two (2) feet above the parking surface and safely away from combustible materials.
The tailgating area must be maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. Individual vehicle owners involved in tailgating activities are responsible for proper disposal of the trash they generate. All trash must be bagged and tied closed, and should be disposed of in the receptacles found throughout the tailgating area.
The University encourages recycling of plastic bottles and cans in the Recycling Bins found in the tailgating area.
Pets are not permitted to roam freely and must be leashed at all times on University property. Animals must not be left unattended. Individual vehicle owners are responsible for cleaning up after pets.
Soliciting and sales are not permitted by anyone other than approved University affiliates with advance written permission from the SRU Office of Public Relations.
